Lakawanna's Towers

It is reported on a Buffalo TV station that some of the wind towers are up and getting ready to operate. Just for those who do not know, up close, what they are going to look like, here is your chance. At least you won't have to go to Lowville to see what they look like, now.

Actually, I'd dispute that ... one of the most unnerving features of the turbines on Tug Hill (Lowville area) was the lack of anything else industrial - indeed, the lack of anything else - of similar size in the vicinity. Against a city skyline, turbines will look far more appropriate.

Then again, I rather support the effort at Lackawanna. First, the wind is directly off the lake, so it is much less transient than wind over land here; second, the area is already industrial and accustommed to noise, vibration, etc; third, the land is already poisoned for other use. Might as well put something green on it. This is one of the few turbine installations I can at least look at and NOT shake my head.

Then again, that's just my opinion :)
