They'd like you to think turbines are about 60' tall

Or maybe smaller. I almost laughed when I saw this. They're very good at taking photos like this. What is not clear is that the turbine is quite a bit farther back from the house and the windmill.

Those boxes near the turbine are, I think, double-stacked shipping containers, which would reach the house roof if they sat right next to it. Imagine the house that small and you're getting closer...

Effie, I thought you said elsewhere on this site that you didn't have a visual problem with these? For the general audience - I had posted a few links previously to some butcher photos that WOW created for the "save upstate NY web site" - a real hack job with the photos. Effie removed my posting in that it was an embarassement to say look at the perspective in this photo versus the creative editing that the WOW group did. I'm happy to say they removed the photo from that site. Why however did she remove my original posting? Effie?

I don't remove postings, although the spam engine may have.

And I really don't care what kind of job was done on the photos -- as long as they show true perspective. Something the above photo does NOT do.

Ah here it is. http://www.saveupstateny.org/

Tell me Effie - who's the genius behind this creative photo editing? Here's the difference - the Wow group edited the photo while the one you show is just perspective.

Saveupstateny.org is not the same as Wow. I have no idea who did the photo nor what they are doing at that site. Why am I suddenly responsible for every anti-wind thing ever written?

Effie. It appears that Saveupstateny.org has a bit to do with a number of Nimby orginizations. Anne Britton for example. Maybe we should ask Anne why they did a butcher job on that photo since she is also a contributor to the content on this site. Anne?

FORMATION OF STATEWIDE ORGANIZATION

Three members of our organizations were invited and attended the meeting held by Tom Golisano in Rochester, NY.

We were two of twelve organizations in attendance. The main purpose was to agree to a strategy and use www.saveupstateny.org as a central data bank. There were many ideas set forth and it was interesting to see the approaches of other organizations. We are the towns with the most impact. Others spoke of 12 towers, 33 towers, etc...not 521 as the plan for our area.

Kaye (North Country Advocates), and Anne (WOW) presented the introductions of our groups and the efforts and successes that our groups had encountered. We were also able to answer many questions that were set forth by other groups. Some of them have been organized and battling since 2001.

You really are something. That photo was published in the Roanoke Times. You have no idea one way or the other if it is doctored or not.

Take it up with them.

So anti-wind folks work together. Big deal. I am not Anne Britton. Nor am I Save Upstate NY. I work with them, but have more moderate views. Can we stop painting everything as black or white? That's a ludicrously simple world view and not befitting a debate on wind power.

visitoragain | Wed, 02/07/2007 - 9:16pm

I agree Effie - but why then did you point out this picture above? Formosa - do you really believe that turbines sit on a road surface as is the case in the WOW site. I have no idea - well I do. That picture is a joke

EffieRover | Thu, 02/08/2007 - 12:58pm

The picture above is not a true perspective. It is a myth created by the wind industry. Are you really not following the point here?

visitoragain | Fri, 02/09/2007 - 9:12pm

My point was that its not doctored. I understand your point but there is a difference between taking a photo that one might question the perspective and taking the next step and doctoring photos.
